Youth work is about building on and providing new life learning and employment opportunities for young people aged 10-19 (25 for SEND), supporting ALL in an informal educational setting, to achieve and be successful...
There are many reasons "Why Now", the timing is ideal for a new understanding of the role youth work, alongside formal education, parents, families, and the wider communities play in the personal and social development of young people and equip them with the resources they need to ‘succeed.’ Such success we might define as, “finding a place within the community offering security, fulfilment and strong interpersonal relationships.”
Big Congratulations to James Cox, one of our trustees & treasurer who also volunteers for the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK (ACCT) covering Hampshire & Isle of White ACF.
James, an award winner has received an Excellence Award in First Aid Award! supporting and delivering first aid to hundreds of cadets from across the areas he covers.
POST PANDEMIC NEWS...
This couldn't have come at a better time for our charity, as we continue to grow and develop. We are delighted to announce that we have partnered up with YMCA East Surrey, which will provide funding to us to deliver the Redhill Youth Club based in Redhill within the county of Surrey, from 6th June 2022.
This partnership will ensure the youth provision will run for another three years and provide quality open access (universal) youth work for those at risk and vulnerable children and young people aged 10-19 and up to 25 for those with SEND.
GREAT NEWS...
We have secured the lease on a unit in Woking, for initially three years (from July 2021). We have also partnered up with Surrey County Council, who will have use of the unit and share machinery and tools with us to deliver carpentry skills to young people in the criminal justice system and our members who access our services.
The trustees are delighted to announce that Darren Smith, our Chair of trustees & Founder was nominated along with thousands of others, for the “Platinum Champions Award”.
He was 1 of 490 chosen from across the UK to receive this award and become a Platinum Champion. Furthermore, from the 490 he was 1 of 70 invited to the Jubilee Big Lunch to meet and receive his award from HRH Prince Charles & HRH Camilla Duchess of Cornwall.
We are thrilled about what he has achieved and
for the huge contribution, he has given.
Speaking with Darren, he is
Immensely humbled to have
receive this award and to know
people appreciate all that he
does for others. A BIG Well Done
Darren, from us all at Specialist
